tried to change their situation, took care of his business with great dedication and

wrote down his experiences with precision and interest, because it seems that for

him everything was relevant.

Heinrich Schliemann made a valuable contribution to the knowledge of a very

important period of the development, characteristics and progress of the so called

Pearl of the Antilles. He looked at the Cuban reality from different angles, as a

curious visitor with very sharp eyes and as an experienced business man. After

Christopher Columbus who was the first discoverer of Cuba and Alexander von

Humboldt, who is considered the second, I believe that Schliemann deserves the

title of ‘A new discoverer of Cuba’.
